Local Truck Fleet Engine Machining & Repair
A major truck fleet in the Quad Cities brought in a B-series Cummins engine and requested a detailed estimate, and then authorized us to proceed. Shortly afterward, they brought another and again requested an estimate prior to authorizing us to proceed. After these first two units, they continued to bring in more engines and merely told us to proceed without the prior estimating. This is the way in which we build up our customers’ confidence in our operation.
We Specialize in the Unusual
Recently a customer recommended a friend with a special need to us - their antique Velie engine needed rebuilding. What made the project unusual was that we needed to build discontinued parts to complete the job. Currently we are rebuilding a 1937 Packard V-12 engine.
Last year we worked on three rollers about five inches in diameter and about five feet long. We were asked to build up the O.D. and grind them back to standard. As part of the job, we applied an overlay to the surface, which was significantly harder than the original surface extending the life of the rollers.
We are often asked to increase the stroke of agricultural crankshafts for use in tractor pulls. We also repair and rebalance straw choppers and corn shellers during the harvest season. In addition, we recently repaired a hole in an aluminum automatic transmission case. We do a lot of crack repairing in cast iron as well as aluminum cylinder heads. We are constantly amazed by the unusual requests we receive.
